Freshwater fishes of Bhutan are yet understudied. A recent enumeration of the fish diversity found in Bhutan indicated that there are at least 90 species. Subtropical waters of Bhutan host numerous species. Among these subtropical species is the Mahseer which is also migratory species. This species spends it life in the rivers of lower foothills in winter and migrates up stream during summer.
